Artist Statement
My work delves into the blurred boundaries between land and sky, exploring the serene yet indecisive interplay of light, texture, and form. Using oil paint and encaustic, I create abstract landscapes inspired by the forces of geology and the elements that shape our world.
These paintings explore the edge—or the absence of it—between the natural and the human-made, between the solid and the ephemeral. Clouds drift across surfaces as echoes of transformation, while the earth’s contents and the sky’s expansiveness intertwine, revealing a relationship that is both dynamic and tranquil.
Through layers of color and texture, I aim to evoke the manipulation of light, the shifting of borders, and the fluidity of nature’s boundaries. My work is a meditation on the tension between what is grounded and what is boundless, a visual reflection of the beauty and ambiguity that exists within the world around us.
