Artist Bio

Shannon Mello’s intentions of bringing new perspectives of earth and its elements into view are evident in her paintings.  From the use of raw materials such as charcoal, rust, gold leafing, and pigments, her passion for the outdoors helps guide her creative endeavors.  Her affection for the natural decomposition of elements and visual tension with human made materials began as a child.  Often exploring in the woods, creeks, lakes, and then in the mountains, there was always an attachment to the contrast of human made objects and their surroundings.

Born in Michigan, now living in Colorado, inspiration from both states can be found in her work, often including expansive skies and dappled water reflections.  Shannon exhibits regularly in Colorado and the surrounding region.  Shannon has been painting her whole life, but now paints full time out of Colorado Springs, Colorado.
